A Simple Digital Asset Inventory for Founders
What to record when your portfolio grows beyond one website and one login.
Build your first inventory in three passes
First, list each active business or brand. Do not begin by importing every bookmark: establish what each asset belongs to. Second, add the destinations needed to operate it, such as the website, hosting account, domain manager, inbox and social profiles.
Third, test each link and add a short explanation wherever its purpose is unclear. If a destination opens the wrong account, correct it immediately. For credentials, keep only the route to the provider in Nexarch and store the password in your password manager. Revisit this inventory after changing providers or launching a new site.
Start with ownership and access
A digital asset inventory should be useful, not ceremonial. Begin with the properties that represent or operate the business: websites, domains, email destinations, hosting tools, administration panels and social profiles.
Nexarch lets you group these items under individual businesses. The directory shows the portfolio; each business workspace provides its operational detail. That structure remains understandable whether you have a side project and a main company or several active brands.
Add context, not clutter
A link alone may be obvious today and mysterious six months later. A short description, a clear label and workspace notes preserve the context that bookmarks usually lose. Website checks can provide another small piece of operational awareness without claiming to replace a dedicated monitoring platform.
The best inventory is the one you keep returning to. Nexarch is designed as that everyday starting point: focused enough to scan quickly and flexible enough to reflect the assets you actually manage.
Put it into practice
Adapt this checklist to your own digital portfolio.
- Record websites, domains, inboxes, hosting tools and social profiles.
- Confirm which business owns or uses each asset.
- Give every link a label that will still make sense next year.
- Document safe operational context without storing credentials in notes.
- Schedule a recurring portfolio review as assets change.
